Barney was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Prior to his retirement, he was employed with Shaw Industries. He was a member of the Welcome Gap Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Delora Channell Darley; a daughter and son-in-law, Kim and David Stokes of Resaca; grandchildren, Brandon and Ashley Erwin of Adairsville, and Taylor Langford of Calhoun; great-grandchildren, Maddie and Bennett Erwin of Adairsville; a twin sister, Bonnie Overstreet of Jackson, Ala.; and brothers, Bobby Darley, Sam Darley, and Francis Darley, all of Mize, Miss., Raymond Darley of Jackson, Ala., and Calvin Darley of Huntington, Texas. A sister-in-law, Nellie Darley of Eight Mile, Ala., and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services to honor the life of Mr. Barney Darley were held Thursday, July 5 at 11 a.m. from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. J. Clinton Green and Rev. Larry Hayes officiating. Music was arranged by the Welcome Gap Baptist Church Choir. Interment followed in Fain Cemetery. Active pallbearers included Brandon Erwin, Taylor Langford, William Channell, Tim Mulkey, Chris Mulkey, and Bobby Banks.
The Darley family received friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Wednesday, July 4 from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m.
