Emilee Cornelison from Calhoun has participated in the National Young Scholar Program at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, N.C. for one week in July.

The participants for the program are third, fourth and fifth grade students nominated by a teacher. The National Young Scholar Program chooses students who have exhibited great grades along with great leadership abilities.

Emilee is the daughter of John and Angela Cornelison and has a brother, Dodd Cornelison. Her grandparents are John and Faye Allen and Bill Dodd of Calhoun. Emilee attends Belmont Baptist Church where she is very active in Awana’s Children’s choir and Sunday School. She enjoys swimming, soccer, art class and spending time with her family and friends.

Emilee studied the Medicine strand at the National Young Scholar Program in preparation for becoming a pediatrician when she grows up. She plans to attend Yale University for her medical degree.
