For the last few weeks, local residents at the Brookstone Subdivision, in Calhoun, have noticed damages to their landscapes.

The cause seems to be a wild hog, according to residents in the neighborhood.

Gerald Brown, a local Brookstone resident, said the hog was uprooting and destroying his garden, as well as his fellow neighbors.

The residents tried everything they could to trap the hog by baiting it in, but efforts proved to be pointless.

A resident’s acquaintance shot the hog, which was the end of the terrorizing, for now.

According to the Department of Natural Resources (DNR), Gordon County does not have a serious hog infestation, but the animals will reproduce prolifically, if they are left alone to breed.

If hogs start to show up in an area, the best thing to do, according to DNR, is to trap the animal, carry it off, or to shoot and kill it before they do become a serious problem.
