A Georgia Archives photograph of Paul Gwin (1893-1918), the first Gordon Countian killed in WWI. The American Legion local post was named in his honor and he is buried in Sugar Valley.

Other historic pictures are on display at the Gordon County Historical Society, 335 S. Wall St. October is Georgia Archives Month, which is sponsored by the Georgia Historical Records Advisory Board, Georgia Archives, Georgia Records Association, Office of Secretary of State, Society of Georgia Archivists, Georgia Library Association, Georgia Association of Museums and Galleries, Interpreting Time’s Past LLC, Walter Hopkins Co., Coca-Cola Co. and Hollinger Metal Edge Inc. The theme of Georgia Archive Month 2010 is “Travel Back in Time.”
