Organizers of the first-ever Jordan Pass Memorial Open are signing up teams to play in the golf tournament set for Wednesday, Sept. 12 with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. at Fields Ferry Golf Club in Calhoun.

The tournament is being held in memory of Jordan Pass, a young man who recently took his own life, and will raise money for scholarships for Gordon County students who have suffered the loss of an immediate family member to suicide.

“We are hoping to be able to provide a $1,000 scholarship to each of the following schools: Calhoun, Gordon Central, and Sonoraville,” said Russell Pass, Jordan’s father, who is helping organize the event. “We also hope this event will raise public awareness about the high rate of suicide among teenagers and young adults in Gordon County and Northwest Georgia.”

Officials are seeking sponsors for the tournament, with levels ranging from $100 to $500. Entry fee will be $33 per player.

For more information about how you or your team can sign up to play in the event, call Russell Pass at 706-263-5509.
