Students at Tolbert Elementary enjoyed a surprise visit and one hour assembly from Radio Disney on Feb. 25th for placing in the top 20 out of 150 participating schools in the state of Georgia in the Get Fit- Get Active challenge. Radio Disney staff members provided an hour filled with music, entertainment, prizes, and active games to congratulate the school. The principal, Sket Angland, was presented with a plaque to commemorate the honor.

Students were challenged to participate in at least 15 minutes or more of activity/ exercise each day from Oct 11th through Nov. 28th. Students reported their activity to Coach Wilkins and Coach Mixon during their physical education time. Daily participation was recorded for each student during the two month time period.

The percentage of the total number of students who exercised 15 minutes or more every day for the entire challenge period was then sent into the Radio Disney office. Tolbert had 94-percent of their first through fifth graders exercised or participated in activity all of the challenge period days.

The Physical Education teachers at Tolbert encourage living a healthy lifestyle. The second through fifth grade students completed a 10 minute jog challenge in December where 96-percent of the students who attempted the jog were able to complete it without stopping.
