he Technical College System of Georgia published a fact sheet about changes to the HOPE scholarship.

According to the fact sheet:

The tuition for a full year at a TCSG college remains among the lowest in the state and the southeast. TCSG annual tuition for a standard program averaged $2700 in 2010, not including books and fees. Generally, the changes to the HOPE program in the fall will cover 90% of last year's tuition cost. Any tuition increase in the 2011-2012 school year will not be covered.

In FY10, almost 95% of the 147,000 TCSG students (out of a total enrollment of 191,000 students) who received financial assistance through the HOPE program were grant recipients. For the TCSG students who can’t afford the extra tuition and book costs resulting from the changes to the program, the colleges are working to develop local and community financial assistance. The colleges may also examine other sources of financial aid, including identifying avenues to low-cost loan programs. When possible, students will be counseled to complete their programs by the end of the 2011 summer quarter while still receiving the full grant benefit.
