The Gordon County Nutrition Site would like to invite seniors ages 60 and over to come to the senior center, located at 150 Cambridge Court Monday – Friday at 11:30 a.m. for a nutri-tious meal. The meal is free of charge. For more information, please contact Ann Bradford, Nutrition Site Manager at 706-629-0392.
The Calhoun Pregnancy Center Inc., located on Peters Street at the four-way stop signs, offers free pregnancy test kits, counseling by lay counselors trained in Biblical counseling, and referrals to other agencies. It also offers pregnancy help services including maternity and baby clothes, diapers, and other baby care items and furniture as needed and available. The center will be open on Tuesdays from noon to 4 p.m. and Thursdays and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday and after-hours appointments are available by prior arrangements. All services are free and confidential. Call 706-625-5768 to make an appointment. Walk-ins are also welcome.
The Fork supports United Way, eat at The Fork anytime next week, Jan. 21 through Jan. 27, and mention United Way. They will donate 10 percent of your total bill to the 2013 Campaign. The Fork Diner is located in the Piggly Wiggly Shopping Center on Red Bud Road.
The Voluntary Action Center Community Kitchen has evolved from serving meals from food boxes and crockpots to utilizing a fully functioning commercial kitchen. The Community Kitchen Exists due to the generosity of caring individuals and businesses in our community. Each month more than 1,000 meals are served which shares not only nutritional support but HOPE for the future. The Kitchen is currently provid-ing hot meals on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday of each week from 11a.m.- 1 p.m. There are many oppor-tunities to support the Community Kitchen.
