There have been multiple arrest made in the tornado affected areas in Gordon County, but none of the arrest are storm related incidents according to authorities.

In the aftermath of the devastating tornado extra manpower from the Gordon County Sheriff’s Office has been deployed in the affected neighborhoods on a 24 hour seven days a week basis.

On Saturday, February 2 Darrell Lamar Harris, 45, of a Calhoun address approached a roadblock at the intersection of Plainview Road and State Route 53 manned by state and local officers. The road had been closed due to storm damage, so the state trooper questioned the occupants of the car. The officer allegedly smelled the odor of burnt marijuana inside the vehicle and Harris was arrest by sheriff’s detectives for possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute. He was found to be in possession of drugs, scales and $1,000, which was seized. The other occupants of the car were also arrested.

In the afternoon of February 3 the sheriff and a number of deputies were meeting in the parking lot behind the Dollar General Store in Farmville arranging for security patrols in the area. A 911 report was broadcast of shoplifting in progress inside the Dollar General they were standing behind. The alleged shoplifters were Frank Perone, 47, and Melissa Jean Adams, 36, both of Resaca. The suspects walked out of the store and straight into the custody. They were arrested and charged with theft by shoplifting and the stolen property was returned to the store manager.

On February 4 a deputy sheriff was patrolling the Mill Stone subdivision when he approached a suspicious person. Roger Bruce Gilbert, 59, of Ranger was found by the deputy to be wanted for violation of Calhoun Municipal Court probation. Gilbert was arrested without incident and booked into the county jail.

A deputy sheriff patrolling the Farmville area stopped a suspicious vehicle on Shope Lake Road on February 5. The driver was Dustin Dakota Waggoner, 24, of a Shope Lake Road address and was arrested and charged with a D.U.I.

A deputy sheriff patrolling Plainview Road on February 5 stopped a suspicious person in the curfew area. Frankle Lane Teens, 50, of Resaca was wanted for failure to appear. He was arrested without incident and booked at the county jail.

Also on February 5 a deputy sheriff patrolling Stone Mill subdivision stopped a suspicious person by the name of Robert M. Turner, 35, of Rossville. After running Turner’s name it came back he was wanted by Catoosa County for an outstanding warrant. Turner was arrested without incident and taken to the jail to be held for pickup by the Catoosa County Sheriff’s Office.

On February 5 a deputy sheriff patrolling Beason Road near Farmville stopped Darren W. Quinn, 46, of Calhoun who was wanted on a warrant from the Calhoun municipal court. Quinn was also charged with possession of marijuana less than one ounce. He was arrested without incident and booked into the county jail.

As of Monday, February 11 there have been no reports of looting, vandalism or disorder in the storm impacted areas.
