“Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked,” will make its Gordon County debut on a 45-foot screen at the Sonoraville Recreational Complex soccer fields, May 12, and is free and open to the public.

Sponsors for the event include Williams Communications, Gordon Hospital and Gordon County. The event has seen as many as 5,000 visitors in the three years the event has taken place, according to Assistant Director of Gordon County Parks and Recreation Diane Jones.

“It has been a success in the past,” said Jones, who expects the same number of people to attend, if not more.

People are encouraged to bring picnics, lawn chairs and/or blankets to sit on during the movie.

Pre-movie activities are also planned as well as vendors and bounce apparatus for children. There is no cost for admission, no matter the carload, said Jones.

“We just want everybody to come out and enjoy themselves,” she said.
