Dr. William G. Sloan, Jr., Executive Director of the Georgia Retired Educators Association (GREA) has recently been honored by being added to the Teacher Retirement System (TRS) Board of Trustees.

Sloan has been the Executive Director of the Georgia Retired Educators Association since 2005. He retired in 2005 after serving as Principal of East Hall High School for more than 17 years.

He was named the State High School Principal of the Year in 2004 by the Georgia Association of Secondary School Principals.

He has previously served on the Professional Association of Georgia Educators Board of Directors and the Georgia Association of Secondary School Principals Board of Directors.

He holds an undergraduate degree from Georgia Southern College, two degrees from the University of Georgia and a doctorate in Educational Administration from NOVA Southeastern University.

He and his wife, Janice, have two children and two grandchildren. They reside in Gainesville.

Dr. Sloan and his staff work for those receiving a TRS retirement check. With this additional appointment, he will be able to continue the fight for the children in schools in Georgia and for the retired educators of Georgia.

The local unit, Calhoun Gordon County Retired Educators Association, is pleased to make this announcement for Dr. Sloan.

All retired educational staff (bus drivers, custodians, lunchroom personnel, para-pros, teachers and administrators), receiving a TRS check are invited to become a part of the local group.......CGREA. Dues are only $10 a year. By being a member of CGREA and GREA, you maintain involvement with the schools and remain informed about events that affect retired educators.
