    I will run next election if there is no other opposition. I will never vote for a tax increase, I will never vote to approve a project without funds being available first, I will never vote to give any administration a pay increase until teachers have all of their pay returned to them.

    Can I count on any votes?

    Do you think the teachers are being treated correctly when we cut their pay from the state and the county, then give all of the administrators raises? This isn't about unions, it is about what is right and what is wrong.

    Au contraire my friend! It IS exactly all about the teacher’s unions. The unions stipulate all teachers are equals; not graded on individual performance or merit, which has stalled the profession, relegating them to some of the lowest paid professionals in any field. Remove the union stranglehold on education, abolish the DOE, return control of education to the states and watch the cream rise to the top of the pay scale, along with the academic performance of our children. The additional benefit is those troglodyte teachers and administrators will summarily be shown the curb and replaced by those who are willing to strive, rise and perform for increased compensation.

    I hope the other elected officials will remember this when they spend our money. The school boards need to reign in their $ habits or hopefully they will be next.

    The school board (county) are the ones that raised the millage to 20mils, and THEY had no opposition. Does not really make sense.

    Long & Bailey remember

    sneaking in a tax hike just before the governor's three year property tax freeze and

    paying $800,000 for an out of county firm to assess property taxes.

    Amateur theatrics performed by public officials during recession causes voters to revolt.

    Welltraveled - You would have thought Long could have “dug up” a few more votes.

    cranky – I think of all of the candidates, Long had the fewest signs. Interesting in light of your comment.
