All Gordon County residents are encouraged to attend and admission is free, all that is needed to participate in the rewarding activities is a receipt from an item bought locally.
During the intermission of the band The Van Lears, residents with local receipts can participate in a game, similar to “Let’s Make a Deal,” said Suzanne Roland, Calhoun Downtown Development Authority director.
“The receipt can be from anything, as long as you purchased it in Gordon County … and I can safely say we will have thousands of prizes to give away,” she said.
“We will announce from the stage to anyone who has a receipt for a certain item…We’ve got spotters along the crowd, and whoever is seen first gets to choose from one of the door prizes,” said Roland.
Door prizes range in value from a free lunch at an area restaurant to a $149 gift certificate.
Santa will also be at the event talking to children, and a Christmas tree will be decorated in sunglasses and flip-flops.
The event is part of the Concerts in the Park series and is part of the Chamber’s “Keep it in the County” campaign to help keep business local.
Food will be available for purchase and provided by Sharkie’s restaurant, a local eatery.
“We are helping the businesses, not only in downtown or the city of Calhoun, but all of Gordon County,” said Roland.
