Sandy Barton, RN, has been awarded Gordon Hospital’s prestigious Extra Mile Award.

This special award was created by members of the hospital’s Employee Engagement Committee to recognize employees who go above and beyond the call of duty on a regular basis. It is awarded monthly to a deserving employee selected by the hospital’s directors.

“Sandy was nominated for this award because of her positive attitude and willingness to go the extra mile for others,” said Jennie Banks, director of Gordon Hospital’s critical care services. “Sandy is a great team player and is frequently commended by patients and families on satisfaction surveys.”

Barton, who works in the hospital’s Emergency Department, has been employed by Gordon Hospital for 17 years. She received her nursing diploma from Georgia Baptist Medical Center and her BSN from the University of Phoenix.

“Our facility makes it easy to want to go the extra mile,” Barton said. “We have an awesome team that puts patients first.”

Barton and her husband, John, reside in Fairmount. She has a daughter, Sarah, and a son, John Robert. Her hobbies and interest include reading, flower gardening, church and family.
