Now that another episode of Fox’s hit reality show “American Idol” has come and gone, 16-year-old Rossville native Lauren Alaina still has a chance to make the show’s final 24 contestants, which will be revealed tonight at 8 p.m.

After surviving last week’s cut and making it to the remaining 61 contestants, Wednesday’s episode set in Las Vegas followed the contestants as they once again split into groups to collectively perform songs by The Beatles.

The groups, comprised of duos and trios, chose Beatles’ songs out of a box and were allotted 24 hours to learn the songs, choreograph a performance and collaborate with their partners.

Alaina was part of a trio consisting of Denise Jackson and Scotty McCreery. Performing “Hello-Goodbye,” the group first rehearsed with a group of popular and powerful record executives, and was given constructive criticism following their first attempt as a group.

“I think you should go do a different song,” said record producer Jimmy Iovine, who is the chairman of Inter-scope Geffen A&M Records. Artists he has worked with include U2, The Black Eyed Peas, Eminem, and Lady Gaga.

After the not-so-encouraging rehearsal, the trio forged ahead with their tune and gave a performance that received encouraging feedback from the judges.
