CARTERSVILLE, Ga. – Construction work could soon begin on resurfacing Interstate 75 in Bartow and Gordon counties. Georgia DOT has just awarded a contract valued at close to $28 million for a resurfacing project on I-75 in Bartow and Gordon counties. The project includes 21.856 miles of resurfacing on I-75, beginning at State Route (SR) 61/US 411 in Bartow County and extending to SR 156/Red Bud Road in Gordon County.

This major resurfacing project on the heavily travelled I-75 is scheduled to be completed by mid May 2013, at a construction cost of $27,735,250. Information on construction and lane closure schedules on this project will be forthcoming before work begins.

On Tuesday, July 31, voters will decide if 12 designated districts across Georgia will be authorized to collect a one-cent sales tax for the next 10 years to be devoted exclusively to local and regional transportation projects. Funds collected in the Northwest Georgia Region could only be spent in that same region and only to move forward projects chosen by local elected officials.
