The Northwest Georgia Regional Commission (NWGRC) is updating the Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy for the region. Prior to submitting this report to the U.S. Economic Development Administration, a 30-day period of public comment is required.

Availability: The Draft 2012-2016 Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy for the NWGRC will be available to the public for review and comment from August 28 to September 28. Copies of the document will be available on request at the Rome Office of the NWGRC, 1 Jackson Hill, Rome, 706-295-6485; at the Dalton Office at 503 West Waugh St., Dalton, 706-272-2300; as well as on the NWGRC website, www.nwgrc.org

The public comment period is from August 28 to September 28 by 5 p.m. Comments will be forwarded to the NWGRC Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy Committee for consideration prior to submitting the document to EDA.

Comments should be received no later than September 28 by 5 p.m. and should be submitted either by email at jmeadows@nwgrc.org or writing to Julie Meadows, Community and Economic Development Representative, NWGRC, P.O. Box 1798, Rome.

The NWGRC provides community and economic development, planning, workforce development and aging assistance services to the fifteen county region of Northwest Georgia. The Regional Commission also serves as the region’s Economic Development District Through a contract with the Economic Development Administration. Every five years, as part of this contract, the Regional Commission is required to prepare a Comprehensive Economic Development strategy, or CEDS, for the region. The CEDS brings together the public and private sectors in the creation of an economic roadmap to diversify and strengthen regional economies.
