Professional Football: Seahawks cut former Calhoun star Durham

Wide receiver Kris Durham, a former Calhoun and UGA standout, will be among the players let go by the Seahawks today. Durham was chosen in the fourth round of last year's draft. He caught three passes as a rookie before he was placed on the injured reserve to repair a shoulder injury.

Durham is the second player drafted in the fourth round during Carroll's first two seasons as coach to be released. Defensive lineman E.J. Wilson was let go in 2010 during his rookie season after Seattle picked him in the fourth round out of North Carolina.

It was previously reported that Durham was injured, but that is not true. Danny O'Neil reported that incorrectly

Kris is an outstanding player and leader and will be picked up quickly by another team. He played well in the game Thursday night blocking and receiving and I am shocked he was cut. Too bad Wilson and Portis only sent the ball down the middle and never ventured a pass to the sides. Matt Flynn was a little more daring in the game and Kris caught a pass and stayed in bounds to get the yardage in a difficult situation. Best of luck to Kris in the future. I know Calhoun will be watching him on the big screen again real soon!
