Calhoun Mayor Jimmy Palmer and Gordon County Commissioner Chairperson Judy Bailey signed a proclamation this morning in regards to Severe Weather Awareness Week.

The proclamation stated: "Each year, Georgians face the threat of severe weather such as lightening, thunderstorms, floods, flash floods, hailstorms tornadoes and hurricanes, which are all potentially dangerous to life, health and property."

The Gordon County Emergency Management Agency has launched a public awareness campaign to help the citizens of Gordon County be prepared in the event of an emergency that is weather related.

Severe Weather Awareness Week begins Monday, Feb. 6 and ends Friday, Feb. 10.
