Prep Football: Calhoun, Sonoraville, Gordon Central look strong in preseason showdowns

The three local fan bases each got a look at their respective teams this past week and have to be excited about what is to come this season after solid performances from all three.

Calhoun played Rome High at Barron Stadium in Rome on Thursday, Gordon Central visited Cass on Friday and Sonoraville hosted Armuchee the same night.

All three teams came away with wins in the portion where the score was kept, and all three did it in rather impressive fashion through the air. Each team’s starting quarterback threw for over 200 yards and at least two TDs.

We went to the Gordon Central Game.

Saw the QB MJ Reynolds toss 3 TD passes and run the ball well. DJ Prather, Tyshaun Clemmons and Chandler Curtis all looked good receiving. But the defense is what looked really good against Cass. Can't wait to see how the defense plays the rest of the season.

Cartersville, Adairsville and Sonoraville will all be tough games in the region. We'll see what Ringgold and Coahulla Creek bring to the field.

It should be a great year. Go Warriors

I cant wait for the friday night lights season to start for Sonoraville!!! Our football team and the Marching Phoenix Band cant wait to get out in front of our Phoenix Nation and be the best we can be!!!

So proud of my Phoenix! They did a wonderful job. As did the Sonoraville High School Marching Band!
