All four local basketball teams that qualified for the state tournament remained alive this week with first-round wins.

They will be back in action tonight and tomorrow for second-round action.

First up, the Calhoun girls, fresh off a 65-31 win over Westminster on Tuesday, will host Bowdon for a second-round tilt tonight at 6 p.m.

The Sonoraville Lady Phoenix will also be at home tonight, playing Decatur with a tip time of 7 p.m. Sonoraville won their first-ever state tournament game on Tuesday, defeating Hart County, 61-41.

The boys' second round gets going on Saturday. Calhoun, the No. 1 seed from 7-AA, will once again be at home to play Manchester at 5 p.m. The Jackets held off Hapeville Charter in the first round, winning 59-55.

The Gordon Central boys will be the lone local team on the road in the second round. They will visit Buford tomorrow night at 6 p.m. after defeating Franklin County on the road in the first round on Wednesday, 47-38.
