The Calhoun City Schools Pre-K students make every penny count. During a recent United Way Campaign, the Pre-K students brought in their pennies to help support the 19 United Way agencies working here in Gordon County. Day after day, the pennies were placed in a large bottle Those pennies grew and grew and the total raised from their penny campaign was $223.

This is one way the children are learning to give back to their community. A special thank you goes to the teachers and staff that organized the campaign and to Lynne Barton chairperson for the United Way campaign at the Pre-K and central office of the Calhoun City Schools. Her husband, Matt Barton, deserves a great deal of credit for actually carrying the pennies to the bank — lifting 22,300 pennies is not an easy task.

Please join these adorable Pre-K students by contributing to United Way. Your tax deductible contribution may be mailed to P. O. Box 486 Calhoun, Ga. 30703. If you have pennies, please call the United Way office, and someone will be glad to pick them up. Now … more than ever United Way of Gordon County needs your help.
