It's not the prickliest of situations to affect Walmart, but investigators in Alabama are reaching across state lines to identify a man accused of cashing fake checks, some of which were uttered at the Cartersville store.

Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office detectives are assisting Tuscaloosa County authorities in the investigation of the counterfeit checks drawn on a Tuscaloosa County Jail account.

The man suspected of cashing 10 checks for a total of about $7,000 was caught on surveillance footage at several Walmart stores. Investigators say he walked away with cash after passing forgeries at stores in Cartersville, Acworth, Kennesaw, Woodstock, Cumming, Lawrenceville and Alpharetta, among others.
