No need to tie a ribbon around ones finger remember that October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, but if that is the case, two local high schools hope it will be a pink one.

The pink ribbon, national symbol of breast cancer awareness, will be displayed all over Phil Reeve football stadium on Oct. 1 during the Calhoun Yellow Jackets and Sonoraville Phoenix game Friday.

All fans are urged to wear pink at the football game to show community unity against the disease.

Calhoun and Sonoraville have rallied together to raise money for breast cancer patients and research by hosting Pink Out at their football game.

Hot pink T-shirts (shown at right) will be on sale for $10 at both schools until Friday.

Proceeds will go to the Susan G. Komen For the Cure Foundation and the Gordon Hospital Cancer Resource Center.

“I am so honored to be in this,” said JoAnn Silvers, RN and certified cancer nurse navigator with the Gordon Cancer Resource Center. “If it can help any patient that has cancer this is a worthy cause.

Aflac Insurance is the game sponsor for Friday’s game at Phil Reeve Stadium.

The fact remains that somebody was skimming a lot of money from the recreation dept. As a taxpayer I would like to see the person responsible not only fired but prosecuted. Everyone who had access to the money should be investigated equally and fairly. citysupporter2, you are wrong when you say we don't need to know and it angers me that you would even say that. I want to know what is happening at all times

I think Eddie Peterson, the Mayor and the Council have done their jobs the way they needed to. There is alot that the public doesn't know and doesn't need to know. It doesn't make him a bad person. There have been all kinds of people loosing their jobs and there was no public outcry for them. Why not? Why them? I think the rec dept will only get better from here. It should grow with the times and flourish. We all need to just let it go.

Recreation Department is all "Business As Usual" in Calhoun.

Eddie Peterson, mayor and crew: Minds' closed until further notice.

Best evidence for term limits in both city and county.

When do we get to force Eddie Peterson to resign from his position??? He didn't like Ronnie and forced him to resign, There are alot of us who don't like Eddie so lets force him to resign!

Lets also give a big hand to our illustrious mayor for making such great comments to WEBS radio after the council meeting Monday and making himself look like a two-faced dork. If he is such a good friend of Ronnie's then why didn't he stand up and tell Eddie Peterson to stop what he was doing. We need to stop just voting in the incumbent when the next elections roll around!
