The Calhoun City Police Department has released new details in two pharmacy burglaries that took place on Sept. 20 in Calhoun.

After looking into the case police do not think that any local residents were involved in committing the burglaries.

“After researching Pharmacy burglaries through the Regional Organized Crime Information Center (ROCIC), it was discovered that several break-ins across the southern states fit the modus pperandi used by the suspects in the resent pharmacy burglaries in Calhoun,” said Lt. Detective Tony Pyle of the Calhoun City Police Department.

The medication that was stolen in September from Scott’s Pharmacy and FHA Pharmacy was Butalbital/APAP, Butalbital/ASA, Pilopanolol and Hydrocodone.

“The intruders targeted an area of the stores used to secure narcotics and appear to be stealing specific medications in these burglaries,” Lt. Pyle said.

Using images taken from surveillance video footage, the suspects were driving a late model white Chrysler 300 with after market mesh fender vents and chrome wheels.

“A vehicle matching the description of the suspect’s vehicle used in the Calhoun break-ins was also caught on camera in Petal, Miss. in July of this year.” Lt. Pyle said.

The department is working with several police agencies in an effort to identify and catch the suspects involved the burglaries and continue to monitor the ROCIC publications for any new information.

“In these circumstances with these guys just going out on the road and committing crimes, the laws of probability will catch up,” Lt. Pyle said.
