A now-clothed Calhoun man is in jail following an evening of alleged nude prowling.

According to the incident report:

Officers received a call Wednesday, April 11, around 10:30 p.m. saying that somebody had knocked on the door of a residence on Belmont Drive, and when the resident opened door, a nude white male was standing on the doorstep.

The resident told him to leave and the male ran away.

Officers driving through the area noticed the nude man under the carport of another residence on the corner of Alton Drive. When the male saw them, he fled on foot again.

The officers chased the male on foot through several yards in the neighborhood. He then jumped a fence across from Alton Drive and ran into the woods, according to the report.

Minutes later, another report came in that a naked man was in front of their home on Lawson Lane. Four officers were dispatched to the area and were unable to locate the subject.

Multiple Gordon County Deputies were also called in to assist.

The law enforcement officers patrolled the neighborhood for an unnoted period of time without success in locating the subject, until dispatch advised that a caller had seen him looking in their window.

Two minutes later, a call came in from a Lawson Lane home stating that the subject had been knocking on their bedroom window.

Officers still couldn’t find him. Around 11 p.m., a call came in saying the naked male was running down Curtis Parkway.

An Officer traveling on Curtis Parkway saw the subject walking along the fence beside Anderson Automotive.

When the nude male noticed the officer, he started running again. However, when the officer started to chase the subject on foot, the subject surrendered. The arrest occurred at 12:15 a.m., one hour and 45 minutes after the initial call.

Derek Lance Petty, 29, of McCreary Rd in Calhoun, is charged with obstruction, prowling and public indecency.

It is unclear as to whether or not drugs or alcohol were involved in the incident. However, there was no mention of either in the incident report.

It's fine they deleted what I said. YES I do know FIRST HAND about this situation. I don't have to claim I know cause I do. It's a sad situation and I don't know how he can be helped with God in his life.

Well I guess what I said was deleted because I "know" too much. Yes I do know this guy and his family very well and I do know most of the circumstances surrounding his arrest. I ain't claiming I have knowledge, I KNOW I have knowledge of all of it. It doesn't bother me that they deleted what I said. fine with me.

Uh-Oh! Looks like someone got “discretioned” out of the string. I thought comments were no longer allowed on arrest reports anyway. Guess that only applies to individuals who claim firsthand knowledge of the situation.

vishnu – Ethel was a “brazen hussy.” Thanks for the laugh.

If it is, as you say, meth and heroin together will result in negative behaviors, not the least of which is getting naked and roaming the streets. There are several Petty’s on McCeary Rd, but I don’t see a property card with his name on it. That tells me he is/was living with relatives, people that know firsthand about his drug problem. Every drug user has an enabler(s) and many times it is family. They may not approve of the drug use, but they continue to do the things that make it possible. It’s a hard choice to make, but if he has any chance of getting better, that has to stop. Sadly, I speak from personal experience.

Meth has been known to raise the user’s core temperature to a point they feel the need to strip off their clothes and go au Natural. We don’t know if drugs are involved in this instance, but something in that look screams fruit-loop to me. Pity the underpaid officer that had to take him down (so to speak)
