This series is about how to handle and how to overcome the hurts in your life, the habits that are messing up your life and the hang-ups that have caused pain in your life.
The verse chosen for the theme in this series “The Road to Recovery” is Isaiah 57:18, God speaking, “I have seen how they acted but I will heal them, I will lead them and help them and I will comfort those who mourn. I offer peace to all near and far.” This is a great promise of God.
The fact is life is tough. We live in an imperfect world. Other people hurt us, we hurt ourselves and we hurt other people. The Bible says, “All have sinned.” That means none of us are perfect, we’ve all blown it, we’ve all made mistakes.
This series is for everybody, unless you’ve lived a perfect life. But if you haven’t lived a perfect life, if you’ve ever been hurt, if you’ve ever had a hang-up or a habit that you’d like to get rid of, you need recovery.
The principles for recovery are found in the Bible. It’s the original recovery manual. In 1935 two men formulated, based on the Scriptures, what are now known as the classic 12 steps of Alcoholics Anonymous and used by hundreds of other recovery groups. Twenty million Americans are in a recovery group every week and there are 500,000 different recovery groups. The basis is God’s Word.
This series is being taught as a Kick-Off for NorthPoint’s new Celebrate Recovery Program that will begin on October 15, 2012.
Celebrate Recovery is a Christ-centered recovery program. The purpose of Celebrate Recovery is to encourage fellowship and celebrate God’s healing power in our lives as we work our way along the road to recovery.
We are changed as we share our experience, strengths and hopes with one another. In addition, we become willing to accept God’s grace in solving life’s problems.
This freedom creates peace, serenity, joy and most importantly a stronger relationship with our loving and forgiving Higher Power, Jesus Christ.
NorthPointe Church is located at 30 Orchard Road in Adairsville. The services are held at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m., and we would love to have you join us for this amazing spiritual adventure.
