Carmen Elizabeth Reid of Kennesaw and Robert Henry Schaumburg of Shreveport, Louisana. are engaged to be married on Saturday, October 1, 2011 in the Cathedral of St. John Berchmans in Shreveport, Louisana.

The bride-elect is the daughter of Deidre Callahan Thompson of Calhoun and James Barry Reid of Jacksonville, Florida. She is the granddaughter of the late Mrs. Dorothy Dean Callahan and Mr. Jack Neil Callahan of Calhoun and Mr. and Mrs. James Elbert Reid of Dalton.

The future groom is the son of Robert Douglas and Emily Murphy Schaumburg of Shreveport, Louisiana. He is the grandson of Mrs. Emily McEnery Murphy of Oakridge, Louisiana and the late Mr. Ramon Edward Murphy of Shreveport, Louisiana and the late Mr. and Mrs. Warren Edward Schaumburg of Shreveport, Louisiana.

The future bride was born in Midland, Texas and is a 2002 graduate of Carl Harrison High School in Kennesaw. As a member of the Division I 2004 USAG Collegiate National Championship Gymnastics Team and the Zeta Tau Alpha Fraternity, she graduated from Centenary College of Louisiana with a Bachelor of Science in Biology in 2006. In 2009, she was the honored recipient of the Linda J. Weiss Award for Clinical Excellence and earned a Master degree in Physician Assistant Studies from the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. She is currently employed by the Willis-Knighton Health System as a Physician Assistant in Orthopedic Surgery at MidSouth Orthopaedics in Shreveport.

The groom-elect was born and raised in Shreveport, Louisiana and graduated in 2002 from Caddo Magnet High School. He attended Centenary College of Louisiana as the 2002 Mary C. White Scholar and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Music Performance in 2007. At Centenary, he served as President of the Kappa Alpha Fraternity from 2003 to 2004 and again from 2005 to 2006. He continues to play violin as a volunteer in the Hurley School of Music Orchestra and as a guest with the Shreveport Symphony Orchestra. He currently works as a Regional Sales Manager for Globe Manufacturing out of Pittsfield, New Hampshire providing personal protective equipment to firefighters.
