Mark Richt to come to Calhoun

(Calhoun, Ga)— Mark Richt, head football coach at the University of Georgia will come to Calhoun on Tuesday, February 23, 7:00 p.m. at the Calhoun Civic Auditorium. He is coming to speak at a fundraiser to benefit the Northwest Georgia Christian Academy (NWGCA). The Academy is part of the mission of the Calhoun Church of Christ and offers a private, Christian education for children from birth through third grade.

“We are truly excited about Coach Richt speaking at our fundraiser,” says Bill Smith, president board of directors for NWGCA. “He is a wonderful coach with Christian values and is building a tremendous program at the University of Georgia. He is a great example for our kids.”

Tickets for the event are now on sale. Ticket prices range from $25 to $75. The $25 seats are general admission, first come, first serve. There is also a $50 ticket available and it will reserve you a space in preferred VIP seating. The $75 ticket will reserve you a space on one of the first 10 rows of the auditorium. Tickets can be purchased three ways, by calling Northwest Georgia Christian Academy at 706.625.8677, coming by the school (located at 1301 Dews Pond Road SE, Calhoun) anytime Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. or by visiting the school’s website at www.nwgca.com.

In addition to Coach Richt’s appearance, the school will also be hosting a silent auction beginning at 5:30 p.m. the same night. There will be a variety of auction items for individuals to bid on. All proceeds also benefit the school.

Door prizes are also available for purchase. With every $50 donation for the door prizes, your name will be placed in a drawing to win a 2010 Ford Mustang or autographed Mark Richt footballs.

About Mark Richt:

Mark Richt has spent the last eight years as head coach of the University of Georgia Bulldog football team. His teams have won two SEC Championships in 2002 and 2005, three Eastern division titles and tied for another. His win-loss record is the fourth best in the country in winning percentage among active coaches. In 2002 and 2005, Richt was named as the SEC Coach of the Year.
