Local graduate to perform at West Georgia

West Georgia music students Lacie Craig, who plays clarinet, and Gordon County native Ashley Elea Faulknor, who plays flute, will perform with an ensemble of selected music students at the college on Saturday, Nov. 13.

Faulknor is a senior music student at West Georgia. Her major is music education and she studies flute in the studio of Melanie Fuller. Faulknor is the daughter of Anthony and Marlene Faulknor of Sugar Valley. She has taught band camp for Calhoun High School, Gordon Central High School, and Rome High School. She is also a member of Phi Delta Musicus and the Collegiate Music Educators National Conference.

Craig is a senior at West Georgia. Her major is music education and she studies clarinet in the studio of Luan Mueller. Craig is the daughter of Avery and Betty Craig of Hiram. She works at Villa Rica High School, East Hall High School and North Paulding High School. She also works as a student assistant for West Georgia’s music department.

The University of West Georgia will host the recital on Saturday, Nov. 13.

The student recital is free and open to the public.

It begins at 7 p.m. in Kathy Cashen Recital Hall, which is located on the first floor of the Humanities building of the University of West Georgia campus.

The recital will feature works by Telemann, Mozart, Gluck, and Saint-Saëns. It will also include modern works by composers Paul Harvey (b.1935), Robert Muczynski (1929-2010), Alan Hovhaness (1911-2000), André Jolivet (1905-1974), and Jeffrey Agrell (b. 1948).
