Local firefighters Josh Howard, Adam Diskey and Rhyan Keith helped collect donations for the “Giver Burns the Boot” drive recently. Gordon County and Calhoun Fire Departments collected more than $21,000 for the Georgia Firefighters Burn Foundation during its three-day “Give Burns The Boot” drive held in May. They were two of more than 100 fire departments throughout the State of Georgia that participated in the 19th annual “Give Burns the Boot” fundraiser, benefiting the Georgia Firefighters Burn Foundation. Donations are still coming in from the drive. Funds collected through the boot drive will be used to help support the Georgia Firefighters Burn Foundation’s mission: to educate the public in burn awareness and prevention, to support medical facilities in the care of burns in Georgia, and to assist burn survivors in their recovery.
