Library’s Genealogy collection expands with new donations

Several members of the Sons of Confederate Veterans, General Stand Watie Camp #915, presented two books to the Calhoun, Gordon County Library, Tuesday, June 19.

President of the Sons of Confederate Veterans, General Stand Watie Camp #915, Stanley Chambers, and others presented the books; “Georgia Confederate Soldiers Who Died As Prisoners of War: 1861 – 1865,” by James E. Stallings Sr., and “Crossroads of Conflict: A Guide to Civil War sites in Georgia,” by Barry L. Brown and Gordon R. Elwell, were presented to Branch Manager Dianne Cronon and Assistant Branch Manager Janice Burrell to add to the genealogy collection.

According to Stand Watie Camp member Ken Padgett, the group donates books annually to the Calhoun-Gordon County Library.

Cronon said she and the library were thankful for the group’s donation.
