Preliminary numbers show a record fall enrollment of 6,072 students at Georgia Northwestern Technical College (GNTC) for fall 2009. (Official reporting numbers will be available the middle of October.) T

his is an increase of 18% (910 students) over the combined enrollment for both Coosa Valley Technical College and Northwestern Technical College for fall quarter 2008 which was 5,162 students.

Georgia Northwestern Technical College’s Floyd County Campus has 2,430 students enrolled, 737 at the Gordon County Campus, 311 at the Polk County Campus, and 2,594 at the Walker County Campus.

GNTC saw an increase in the number of students that enrolled with full time status, with 3,188 enrolled full time and 2,884 enrolled part time at the college.

“We anticipated a significant increase based on the enrollment increases over the past three quarters,” stated GNTC President Craig McDaniel.

“Displaced workers, recent high school graduates, and students with traditional college experience make up the bulk of the growth. Our staff and faculty worked tirelessly to make this happen and they are to be commended,” McDaniel added.

Georgia Northwestern Technical College serves Catoosa, Chattooga, Dade, Floyd, Gordon, Polk, and Walker counties in Georgia with campuses located in Floyd, Gordon, Polk, and Walker counties. Approximately 16,000 people benefit from GNTC’s credit and noncredit programs, making it the largest college in Northwest Georgia and the fifth largest technical college in Georgia.
