Monday morning at 3:33 a.m. a burglary took place at the Catersville Jewelry Exchange, 405 Belwood Road, Calhoun, where $22,000 of property was stolen, according to the Calhoun City Police Department Incident Report.
“I was dispatched to a call to the incident location in regard to an alarm. 911 advised me that there had been broken front glass and motion detected within the store,” Officer Fernando Olmedo of the Calhoun Police Department said.
According to Olmedo, upon arrive he cleared the area around the store while another officer guarded the front door.
After making sure the area was clear he entered the store and did a sweep of the building, and found no one inside.
While inside the store Olmedo noticed that there were several different cases that had been broken into and he also noticed a rock located inside the store.
While waiting on the manager of the Cartersville Jewelry Exchange and a detective to arrive he stood by.
The case was turned over to detective Annette Printup of the Calhoun City Police Criminal Investigation Division.
The owner was contacted but did not want to make a comment.
