A competition in Gordon County led to free yogurt for Sonoraville High School and Calhoun Primary.

Jandy’s hosted a competition for every school in Gordon County, and the school with the most students to visit got a stopover by the Jandy’s mobile yogurt machine.

“This was to let people realize where we are located since we have only been open for a year,” Andy and Jane Morris, owners of Jandy’s Frozen Yogurt, said. “It is also our way of giving back to the community.”

The competition lasted three weeks, and according to Andy, the students did not have to purchase any yogurt when they came into the store. All the students had to do was register what school they were from.

Andy and Jane were only going to make a visit to the school that had the most registered names, but the competition was so close they decided to show up to both schools.

“The competition was neck and neck the whole time,” Jane said. “Calhoun Primary led the way most of the time until the last couple of days, and Sonoraville took over. But for the Calhoun Primary children to get their parents to drive them to the store, and still have that many votes, we thought they deserved it,” Andy added.

According to Andy Sonoraville had a total of 422 votes, and closed out the competition 22 votes ahead of Calhoun Primary.

Jane said the kids at Calhoun Primary were so excited when the frozen yogurt mobile showed up, and they started chanting “Jandy’s, Jandy’s” and telling Jane and Andy thank you.

“It has been great, and we have also got to promote the good aspect of yogurt,” Jane and Andy said.” They (the students) had a good time with it, and we have had fun, that’s the main thing. I think everyone enjoys free yogurt.”
