Concerned citizens on Gordon County gathered on Sunday afternoon, Oct. 23, at the Calhoun Recreation Department for the annual Gordon County Hunger Walk. They were there to walk along the trails at the Recreation Department, raise awareness to the hunger being experienced by Gordon County friends and neighbors and to bring in money raised from sponsors who wanted to help the three main food banks in Gordon County.

That afternoon, $1,347 was turned in. More money is still expected to be turned in from people who couldn’t attend the walk. That money will be divided among the Voluntary Action Center, Blewer and the Calhoun 7th Day Adventist food banks. The Calhoun Gordon County Ministerial Association wishes to thank every person who had part in the making the 2011 Gordon County Hunger Walk a huge success.
