You may have seen Sierra Hull on PBS in November and CMT in March, but in June you will have the opportunity to see her in Calhoun. Hull, one of the youngest and most respected bluegrass artists, is performing at the GEM Theatre on June 16 at 7:30 p.m. The show is sponsored by Shaw Industries.

Hull has received 5 International Bluegrass Music Association nominations in the past 3 years and is the first bluegrass musician to receive Berklee College of Music’s prestigious Presidential Scholarship. She became well known in bluegrass circles for her skill on guitar and mandolin at age 8 and performed on the Grand Ole Opry with Alison Krauss when she was 11. As a teenager, she joined the Great High Mountain tour with Krauss, Ralph Stanley and others.

Hull released her debut album, Secrets, on Rounder Records in 2008 and her third album, Daybreak, in 2011. As a player, a singer and a songwriter, she has remarkable range and the potential to win over ears and give performances of broad cultural importance, as she’s done at Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center and the National Prayer Breakfast.

A select number of tickets are $20 and all other advance tickets are $15 ($5 more at the door). Tickets are on sale online at www.calhoungem.org and at the GEM Theatre box office, open Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. and Wednesday, Thursday and Friday 3 p.m. – 6 p.m.
