Organizers of the Seventh Annual Howard Jones Golf Benefit reported recently that the event raised more than $27,000.

The funds will go toward the future construction of a cancer center at Gordon Hospital, according to Helen Jones, wife of the late Howard Jones.

“This was more than just a golf benefit,” Mrs. Jones said. “The proceeds from this event are literally turning dreams into reality.”

Held at Fields Ferry Golf Course, 110 players enjoyed playing in the tournament that included a hole in one contest sponsored by Brenda Cooper of Century Bank and a putting green provided by Carla Fox of Fox Systems.

“We are so thankful for all of our contributors, volunteers, and players who helped make this 7th annual event so successful,” Mrs. Jones said. “The Jones Family cannot thank you all enough and we look forward to an even bigger event next year.”

The winners of the day included:

First flight, first place: Mark Momon, Matt Hibberts, Delbert Chambers, and David Brown;

Second flight, first place: Russell Defoor, Chase Lambert, Billy Lambert, and Monte Clark;
