Thank you Mr. Hall for your leadership and for choosing to take the high road when others throw stones. You are a business man who goes out of his way to make his customers happy and satisfied. People enjoy doing business with you. You are fair and always willing to donate your time and services. I have never known you to step out of line on any business transaction. in fact I've known that you've always played by the rules and put others' needs before your own. In a small town there are always going to be bitter competitors who like to twist the truth and unfortunately that is the way that it is. I know many folks who appreciate your help and service in the churches, businesses, community organizations, clubs, on the ball fields, at the schools and wherever your business can help.

What rock do you live under ? rt_elms hit it on the head and really knows the truth. How do you think EH sold all his items for years ? He or his surrogates were in and out of all the schools each week. The only "financial sacrifice" he encountered was screwing up all the orders for the coaches....ask any of them, especially now that's he is not their "boss". I'm still waiting on an explanation of the alledged bid-rigging. Also, I guess EH won't be replaced on the board, unless another MT Kool-Aid drinker applies ?

Anybody that knows Eddie Hall well will know that he is a person with an extreme amount of integrity. Eddie was not forced to resign. He was not found to have done anything wrong. From what I understand, he explained at the board meeting he had recently learned that continuing to service the Calhoun City Schools was a gray area. He felt he that as a leader in the schools there was no room for gray and he had no other choice but to resign to set the example for the students. Since Eddie was not in and out of the schools selling (even when he worked for his Dad) he surely was always in a position to benefit financially from NOT being a board member as he was only allowed to respond to requests for service but not to seek out the business. I have no doubt that the financial sacrifices Eddie made by not being able to go into the schools and sell over the last 6 years will come back to him now that he is free to seek the business of the Calhoun City Schools. I am thankful for all he did for the Calhoun City Schools and hope that he and his family will benefit greatly from this decision as the students, teachers and administrators certainly will not!

A “gray area” that took six years to discover? Inquiring minds need to know.

This really isn't that hard. Try to follow along. When Eddie worked for F&R Sales, he had no ownership in the business and therefore it was not a gray area. When he opened Eddie Tees and More, less than a year ago, things changed. People can make something big and ugly our of anything if they try. There are always people that are not successful because of bad attitudes or maybe just because they have a rotten personality. It is much easier for those folks to blame someone else and make excuses than to just look in the mirror. That might be the case here.

Your (not so) thinly veiled attempt at condescension aside, the greater issue is not about tee shirts or shrubbery, but rather should any person in authority have any business dealings with said authority? IMO: no elected/appointed member of any governing body, whether the proprietor or employee of a business should NOT be doing ANY business with that governing body; as they will never escape even the appearance of insider chicanery with taxpayer’s money. Mr. Hall is probably as you said; a fine upstanding individual and I wish him well in his endeavors. However, you may want to note the incumbent bloodbath that took place in this state and others in the most recent election cycle. People are sick and tired of business as usual from their governing officials and those profiting from their position in government should be the first to go!

Thank you Eddie for your service to the students. You have always been a friend to the schools and someone they could depend on. We are glad that you are now working in the Houn. I know when I need some shirts for my church or ball team, you're the man to get the job done for us. Thanks for being the go to guy! We wish you the best!

Just curious about the abrupt departure and the timing on this ? EH has been working in the City for years and I guess someone got tired of a board member selling to the school system. Sounds like a serious conflict of interest. Also, can someone explain how bids can be closed, then reopened with a board member then winning the bid. Is this the first sign of corruption finally being uncovered ? Who will be next ? Stay tuned.
