Four more in board, on dash, digital cameras were also added to the bid at an additional $20,000 to replace the antiquated and bulky VHS tapes the Sheriff’s Office has utilized for many years prior.
The upgrade will provide many advantages, as the current VHS cameras were the last ones in use in the state of Georgia, as others have upgraded to digital.
“(The Sheriff’s Office) Need(s) new camera systems. They are digital and have been tried and tested for years. We are very pleased,” said Gordon County Chief Deputy Robert Paris. “They have a sharper image, easier to reproduce (footage) and forward to prosecutors. Storage space is reduced by 100 times because VHS are very bulky. We are glad to have them,” he said.
Prater Ford of Calhoun won the bid to furnish the Sheriff’s Department with new patrol units to replace the old and worn out units currently in use.
The amendment was put to a vote and passed by the Gordon County Board of Commissioners at their regular meeting.

This is what our local Police have been bidding on.
Might want to take a second look.
You do have the right to view the tape from the officers vehicle. Call and make arrangements to view it. However, they may try and tell you there is no video in which case the ticket should be dismissed.
Unless you have a list of offenses against you (past record) remember "your word is as good as the officers". You should remind the judge of this as well. If he is without proof you should ask that the case be dismissed.
