The county signed an agreement with Cirilian, Inc. for online registration and servicing for the Gordon County Parks and Recreation.
The purpose of the online registration is to make it easier and more convenient for the citizens, said Don Holley, Parks and Rec director.
He also explains that the online registration is optional, so people can still come out and register their children in person.
There will be a one percent charge per transaction for the use of online registration, but according to Holley the county will absorb that charge.
County Adminis-trator Randy Dowling saidthe online registration will cost the county about $500 a year.
Another change the Recreation Department is making is doing away with the $2 dollar admission fee to the youth basketball games.
Instead of paying $2 at every youth game the Gordon County Recreation added a $5 increase to the basketball registration fee.
According to Holley, the Gordon County Recreation is below the median for registration prices in the surrounding areas even with the $5 dollar increase.
The average price for registration fees, according to Holley, range between $45 and $85 for other county registration.
He explained that each team usually plays about eight games a season, and parents and family that want to watch use to pay $2 a piece at each game, along with the registration fee.
Holley explained that the money they do collect such as registration and concessions go to the county's general fund.
According to Dowling the $2 admission was implemented a long time ago, and has been very unpopular. The only sport that will see an increase in registration fees will be basketball.
