ATLANTA (AP) — Gay rights activists and other gay marriage supporters are planning a "Kiss In" at Chick-fil-A restaurants to protest the fast-food chain owners' opposition to same-sex unions.

The protests Friday come two days after hundreds of thousands of customers showed their support for the restaurant during an "Appreciation Day." Chick-fil-A says it set a one-day sales record on Wednesday.

The flap began last month when Chick-fil-A president Dan Cathy told a religious publication that the company backed "the biblical definition of a family."

Herndon Graddick, the president of the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation, says Cathy has every right to voice his opinion but he should get to know the people that he's speaking out against.

Oh, mimi, you're a scream. Are you really comparing those who protested Mr. Cathy's comments with men who killed millions of people? (and, by the way, Hitler and Stalin sent gays and lesbians to the camps, too). Great example of hyperbole there.

"Shout outs, name calling, boisterous yelling, made up outrageous in insults & claims"? Is it just liberals you're talking about, or are you including Sen. Joseph McCarthy, Rep. Allen West, Rep. Michele Bachmann, Rep. Newt Gingrich, and Jimmy Swaggart (not to mention the Westboro church)? They've all done it.

We adults can act so childish sometimes.

And as for loving Hitler, et al.: yep, I'd have loved them, too. Jesus did, and in Matthew's Gospel, He tells us "love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you."

what christians consider persecution is nothing more than the rest of us demanding our 1st Amendment rights not to be exposed to the propaganda and hate from christians who claim we are persecuting them becauuse we demand our rights. I could care less what religion you belong to or what God you worship, what I care about is having the same right to worship my God and not be force fed religious ignorance and hate. I could care less about my cathys business I dont eat there and never have with one exception, it was so bad I never went back. The problem is that when you take the rights of one group away then you take another step in taking rights away from me and the rest of you too. Persecute one group and then when you are persecuted in return who do you think will defend you? The followers of Jesus today are hate filled, they betray everything he stood for in most cases. All you have to do is listen to those railing against the poor and hungry and unemployed to see I am right. The very laws that can be used to prosecute gay people can be used to prosecute you and have been many times in the past. Our society should have evolved over 225 years or so but we have digressed more in the past 12 years than any nation in history.

let me have it, I wont read your responses anyway because I could care less what you small minded, ignorant, hate filled people think of me or what I right. It used to be fun to come and make fun of you but it isn't even worth the time any more most days. Those who know the least cream the loudest as we see eevry day here on the Times comments section

Hey morn -- cry me a river and stay off this forum. Homosexuals like you just can't stand it when people don't condone your filthy lifestyle. The only people that constantly get made fun of on here are you and Vinshu --

It does no good to respond to morn’s rants, as he/she will not engage in thoughtful conversation or debate. However, morn is helpful in supplying comic relief; all the while clearly demonstrating the thought processes of the left. In other words, morn is a useful tool.

Yes yes, you have your single incident, but one thread does not a blanket make as you think it does. Wrap yourself in your single-threaded blanket. Maybe it will keep you warm at night in your sad little bed.

Let me give the term “factual broad brush” some perspective from beneath my incredibly comfy high thread count blanket and I will leave you to your own devices. Did we see mass protest and public outcry from the right when Ben & Jerry’s publicly supported same-sex marriage? No! It was just another day in the neighborhood but with yummy ice cream. But let Dan Cathy state his support of traditional marriage during a radio interview and the left explodes with self-indulgent intolerance and even unadulterated hate; the likes of which rival any three-year-old’s Wal-mart tantrum; as demonstrated by the instances of vandalism across the county at several Chick-fil-A stores. The broad brush, even the power sprayer is applicable in describing the intolerant reaction of the left in this latest cultural skirmish. I submit my evidence from the Twitterverse here: http://twitchy.com/?s=Chick-fil-A

Some further perspective with a pesky factual observation: If I said all homosexuals are liberals, I would be factually incorrect; as there are some who espouse conservative principles and support conservative candidates. However, if I said all homosexuals are deviant sodomites, I would be factually correct, as evidenced by their common behavior and lifestyle (unless you can produce evidence of chaste celibacy in that community) Good luck with that one!

With those facts in mind, I am expected by the left to sanction same sex marriage. When I decline and express my belief in traditional marriage only, I am suddenly intolerant, hateful, and a bigot. The double standard is obvious, even blatant, unless one refuses to honesty observe the uproar from the left, which was my point to begin with in this discussion.

A blogger friend of mine has summed it up this way:

If a conservative doesn’t like guns, he doesn’t buy one. If a liberal doesn’t like guns, he wants all guns outlawed.

If a conservative is a vegetarian, he doesn’t eat meat. If a liberal is a vegetarian, he wants all meat products banned.

If a conservative doesn’t like a talk show host, he changes the channel. If a liberal doesn’t like a particular talk show host, he demands they be shut down.

If a conservative is a non-believer, he refrains from church. A liberal non-believer prefers or demands all mention of God silenced.

Liberals are intolerant of other points of view, much more so than conservatives. Here’s your link:

Chick-fil-A in Torrance, CA vandalized with “hateful graffiti.” Amazing the intolerance of those who constantly shove tolerance down our throats (so to speak)

Careful, RT. You're painting with an awfully broad brush.

(But I still love you)

Have a great weekend.

It is an “awfully broad” factual brush with supporting link Romeo!

So, does that mean that I can count you in with Westboro Baptist Church? Since you're using such a broad brush of course.

vishnu - The intellectual dishonesty of your premise is astounding! Westboro is a hate group loathed by people of good will on all sides. They are in the same category as the KKK, the Black Panthers, and LaRaza. However, I would be negligent not to include the likes of ACT UP, Bash Back and Gay Shame in that list; radical anarchists all! Until they change their tune and tactics, the broad brush is appropriate.

Furthermore, those on your side of the issue, with the rampant support of the media and Democrat party, constantly instruct us that we must accept the agenda of those who views are diametrically opposed to our own; and to not do so is the pinnacle of intolerance. Yet when Dan Cathy speaks his mind in support of traditional marriage, Oh the outcry and demonstration of intolerance from the left! Hypocrites!!!

Were there homosexuals who attended the Chick-fil-A appreciation day in support of the company? Most defiantly yes! I saw interviews with a few. They like the others were there to champion free speech and enjoy a tasty chicken sandwich. They disagreed with Mr. Cathy’s views, but supported his free speech rights. I will apply the same broad brush to them as well and paint them good Americans (even though I consider their lifestyle abhorrent and their political views aberrant) BTW: Chick-fil-A appreciation day, an undeniable success. The anti-Chick-fil-A kiss-in protest, epic fail!!!

I made my case for using a factual broad brush. In this instance, the specifics are so obvious; I could have chosen a power sprayer! Instead of addressing the issue, you would rather, if by insinuation, associate my comment with a known hate group. I will give you a pass, as you are so ingrained with leftist ideals; it’s only second nature to attack the messenger when you have nothing with which to support your side. BTW: Those whooshing sounds are the mega dollars flowing into Dan Cathy’s pockets, a great portion of which will go to WinShape. Cheers!

Aw, the poor thing didn't like getting the power sprayer the same way she used it with one little article. Perhaps hasty generalizations are something you should think about avoiding next time. Now go have your nap, little one.

Not a word in advance or day of Chick-fil-A appreciation day this past Wednesday, yet a cut and past from the AP for today’s same-sex kiss day. Hmmmmm.....
