ATLANTA (AP) — A 28-year-old inmate who officials say was involved in a shooting at the Fulton County jail earlier this year has been sentenced to life plus 25 years in prison for a killing that took place two years ago.

Kortez Hurt was convicted in Fulton County on charges of felony murder, drug, weapons and other charges in the death of 39-year-old Michael Ray of Atlanta in June 2009.

Authorities say Ray was found dead on the kitchen floor of his apartment with a gunshot wound to the head. Anonymous tips led police to Hurt.

Authorities say that while awaiting trial this year, Hurt obtained a gun and shot another inmate in the hand after a dispute concerning the commissary.
