Two Georgia Northwestern Technical College business management instructors have been chosen as presenters for the Southeastern Business and Marketing Education Conference at the University of Georgia in Athens.

A panel from the University of Georgia College of Education chose Graceful M. Beam, instructor of business management, and Gerald McFry, program director and instructor of business management, for the Southeastern Business and Marketing Education Conference, to present in February.

This is the second year Beam and McFry have been chosen as presenters. McFry will present a session named “Produce Creative Online Video Content with Free Tools from Microsoft.” Beam will present three sessions: “Online Engagement that Engages the Instructor Too!,” “Game On!” and “My Learning Style, My Teaching Style”.

This is the fiftieth year for the Southeastern Business and Marketing Education Conference, the conference that serves business and marketing education teachers and administrators at the elementary, secondary, and postsecondary levels. The theme for the upcoming conference is “Meeting the 21st Century Education Challenge.”

“It’s an honor to be chosen to present our ideas by an organization like the Southeastern Business and Marketing Education Conference and it lends credibility to our concepts and methods we use,” McFry said. “When we express new ideas of how to improve education, it starts a conversation and a free flow of ideas. We can learn from our colleagues’ points of view and combine their best practices with our methods to improve student engagement.”

McFry added, “We get to meet other educators that are facing the same challenges we face and discuss how they were successful in solving common problems. Sometimes we get to talk with teachers from high schools within our service area. That gives us a chance to ‘sell’ our program to those teachers whose graduates may be enrolling in technical colleges next year. We’re always acting as representatives of Georgia Northwestern.”
