Friday starts Fair Days in Gordon

The Cherokee Capital Fair Association presents the Annual Northwest Georgia Regional Fair.  The nine day Fair kicks off Friday September 7 and runs through Saturday September 15. 

The Northwest Georgia area fair will be the biggest ever and will feature a variety of non-stop entertainment nightly as well as nightly concerts.

The fair and carnival rides open every night at 5 p.m. and entertainment kicks off nightly at 6 p.m. with local, regional and national entertainers.

Admission is only $5 for adults, students pay only $3 and parking is free in all fair lots. 

 Kick Off Friday will feature free unlimited carnival rides from 5-6 p.m. and will kick off nine nights of fun for the family.

This year’s big parade will be held on Saturday, September 8 at 11 a.m. in downtown Calhoun and will feature bands, floats, shriners, beauty queens, fair participants and all the family fun of an old fashioned parade.

Competitive entries for arts and crafts, photography, home goods and other competitive items will be received Saturday and Sunday afternoons between the hours of 1-4 p.m.

 In addition to the live concerts and daily entertainment, the fair will feature state fair thrill rides, a kiddieland, family rides and attractions and prize winning games. Unlimited midway ride specials are offered everyday. 

This year’s fair will feature several brand new thrill rides including an all new giant High Energy and thriller ride The Flying Dutchman.

If you dare, you can also enjoy the world’s largest slide and even try your skills at bullriding on the mechanical bull.

The Torres Circus will be held nightly at the fairgrounds and will feature the Globe of Death, trapeze acts, clowns and great thrills.

 Northwest Georgia Regional Fair offers some of the most exciting agricultural and livestock competitions in Georgia and is host for numerous 4-H and FFA shows, displays and events.

Lamb, Goat, Steer, Hog, Poultry and Rabbit shows take place throughout the week as well as Livestock Judging, tractor pulling and other events.

 Traditional favorites such as the famous fair pageant competitions for all ages and the Tot Roost Children’s Fashion Shows are scheduled nightly during the fair.

The Rebel 104.9 and South 107 “Karaoke Night”” is back by popular demand and this hilarious talent competition will highlight the center stage on Friday September 14. 

The exhibition building will feature competitive blue ribbon exhibits including Arts and Crafts, homegoods and baked goods submitted by Gordon County residents, 4-H members and others. The Northwest Georgia Regional Fair offers something for folks of all ages.

The Northwest Georgia Regional Fair is located at the Cherokee Capital Fairgrounds on Rome Road just one half mile west of the Highway 53 Spur/Highway 53 Intersection.
