  • With summer coming soon, it's time to make sure children are eating healthy while school is out. The Gordon County School Nutrition Department will be providing meals to children, under age 18, during the summer. There are no income requirements to receive a free meal. Beginning June 4 through July 27, free meals will be served at 5 locations in Gordon County by the Gordon County School Nutrition Department. Sites will be located at Fairmount Tate Park on the Square, Sonoraville High School Bus Drop-Off, Tolbert Elementary School Bus Drop-Off, Plainville Rec Center and Gordon Central High School Main Entrance. Serving time for breakfast will be 8 to 9 a.m. and lunch will be served from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Service will not be held July 2-6.   • Calhoun City Schools Sponsor Summer Feeding Program. The Calhoun City School System is participating in the Summer Food Service Program funded by the USDA. Breakfast and lunch will be provided to all children age eighteen and under at no charge. There is no in-come requirement for the program. You do not have to qualify for free or reduced price meals to participate in this program. Breakfast will be served at each site from approxi-mately 8:00am to 9:00 a.m. and lunch from approximately 11:00am until 1:00 p.m. Monday through May 29th-August 10th. Please contact individual sites for specific times regarding their location. All children can receive breakfast and lunch at one of the following sites: Calhoun Primary/Elementary Schools, Imagination Station, Calhoun Recreation Depart-ment, Tallatoona Gordon County HRDC/Newtown Road Office, Oak Grove Baptist Church, South Calhoun Baptist Church, Latinos for Education and Justice, Mt. Zion Baptist Church/Resaca, Forrest Heights Apartments, Carriage Apartments, Calhoun Boys & Girls Club, Echota Baptist Church, First Methodist Church.

    Other sites may be added to the list.
