  • The Broken Heart Ranch and Arena is hosting a Arena Cattle Drive May 19, with registra-tion beginning at 10 a.m. The actual show will begin at 11 a.m. The ranch is located at 151 Cooper Road in Calhoun. For more information, call 706-218-0896.

  • A Garden Tea Party hosted by the Garden Buddies will be on May 19, at the historic Ingle House in Resaca. Tea will be served at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Tickets are $10. Reservations are required; please call 706-625-0778.

  • There will be a benefit yard sale to be held Saturday, May 19 from 7 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. It will be located on Highway 53 at Calhoun Full Gospel Church. The proceeds go to help with cancer patients.

  • The Book Depot, operated by the Friends of the Library, is open each Wednesday from 1-5 p.m. and the first and third Saturday of each month from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. The Book Depot is located in a small brick building at the corner of Court and King Streets. Proceeds from book sales go to support the Calhoun-Gordon County Library.

  • The Covenant House Ministries is currently accepting gently used clothes and shoes for children and adults. They also need canned food items. There has been a change in schedule. The facility is now open once a month – the third Saturday of each month from 9:30 a.m. to noon. Church service is from 9:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. The ministry opens by appointment for families in crisis. They will be hosting their gazebo gospel hour on the first and third Saturdays from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., featuring preaching, singing and testimonies during ministry hours now - at the gazebo weather permitting. If you would like to know how you or your church can get involved with Covenant House Outreach Ministries, call 70-618-6659. All donations are distributed free of charge. Alcoholics Anonymous meetings are also hosted at the Covenant House Thursdays at noon.

  • There will be a Fish Fry at Friendship Baptist Church from 12 - 4 p.m. on May 19. Plates will be $5 each and will include fish, baked beans, cole slaw, bread and dessert. Sandwiches will be $5 each while drinks and water bottles will be $0.50 each.

  • Come to the Vaughan Cabin, located behind the Park Office, for a free bluegrass concert with the band Counterpoint. The band will be playing right off the porch, so set up your chair or blanket in the front yard and enjoy the show. The concert begins Saturday, May 19, at 8 p.m., at Red Top Mountain State Park, 50 Lodge Road, Cartersville, Ga.
