Gordon County 4-H will have a yard sale from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 16 at the Gordon County Extension office on McDaniel Station Road. All proceeds will be going to the United Way Agency of Gordon County.
The Calhoun, Gordon County Annual Basketball Classic presents and evening filled will basketball action including free-throw contest, shooting hoops, halftime entertainment, youth and adult games at the Calhoun Recreation Department on Saturday, March 16 with the youth game starting at 6 p.m. and the adult game at 7:30 p.m. The alumni of the Stephen High Hornets of Calhoun will be honored at halftime and a reception aft the game. We are asking all alumni to please come and be recognized on this evening. Please RSVP with Bar-bara Jackson at 678-856-9765. Any individuals, boys and men who would like to play on a team contact coach Derrick Parker at 678-848-7305, and if there is no answer leave a mes-sage. The cost for the event is $5 dollars for each individual player to play, but there is no cost for alumni. For more information call 706-899-9759.
Calhoun Prescription will host a Grand Opening Celebration Saturday, March 16 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. The event will celebrate the official grand opening of the store, located at 1100 Red Bud Road near Arby's, across from Shoney's and next to Ramada. Barbecue, balloons for the kids and more.
A benefit will be held for Rachel Wise on Saturday, March 16 beginning at 5 p.m. at Oostanaula School, located off State Route 156 West. She is a young cancer patient. There will be music, cakewalk and an auc-tion to follow. Door prizes will be available. Come join in at 5 p.m. for a good home cooked meal.
