Members of the Delta Nu chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha recently met with city and county officials to have the week of May 14 proclaimed as ESA Week.

Before the official week could even begin, members of Delta Nu were ready to celebrate and go to work. Friday night, members Darlene James, Carol Herndon, Mary Cooper, Vicki Warren, Debbie Glore and prospective member Jessica Hedges enjoyed an evening of food, fellowship and laughter at Red Lobster in Cartersville in celebration of Delta Nu’s first birthday.

Members Shannon Wellington, Gailen Smith, Angelina Reynolds and Pat Miolen were unable to attend. Of course, no birthday party is complete without presents so everyone in attendance took home a small gift as a part of the celebration.

Darlene James has served as this year’s president. She along with several other members living in the Calhoun area left the Sigma Chi chapter in Jasper in order to charter a chapter in Calhoun. She was the driving force responsible for leading in the founding of Delta Nu. As a thank you gift in appreciation for her hard work, determination and enthusiasm, she was presented a hand painted stained glass window art piece which featured her theme and chosen symbols: the word DREAM, sun flowers, a fairy and a ladybug

The next morning, several of us met again as volunteers at the New Echota-Cherokee Capital State Historic Site 50th Anniversary Celebration. We spent the day serving lemonade and water to the visitors to the park who enjoyed the many displays about the frontier lifestyle.

Next week, we will be traveling to Callaway Gardens for our annual statewide meeting. Hopefully, we will have good news to share when we return. For more information about ESA, go to www.esageorgia.com or contact us at deltanu.calhoun@yahoo.com.
