The 62nd Annual Georgia State Council of Epsilon Sigma Alpha was held recently in Pine Mountain, Ga. Darlene James, Mary Cooper and Debbie Glore attended the state convention at Callaway Gardens May 18-20 representing Delta Nu. Members from across the state from 19 of our 24 currently active chapters were in attendance and conducted the business of the organization while enjoying conferences, fellowship, fun and of course food.

Newly elected officers for the Georgia State Council were installed in a beautiful ceremony. Darlene James was appointed as Social Chair for the council and Debbie Glore was appointed as the Hope for Heroes Co-Chair. Although unable to attend the meeting, three members, Hassel Sosebee, Lila Longley and Joyce Robyn were recognized for 65 years of service. These wonderful ladies helped organize the first chapter in Georgia.

We were very pleased to learn about all the philanthropic projects that have been conducted throughout the year by our chapters across the state. The best news of the weekend, however, was when we learned that statewide, working individually and as a team that Georgia ESA raised $359,979 for St Jude Children’s Research Hospital this year. Darlene was presented a “Spirit Award” by Bobbie Massey, 2001-2002 past International Council and Debbie came home with 4 Association of the Arts awards.
